Nebo is an Atlanta, GA based digital agency with a staff of 30 people with their sites set on world domination (or something like that). The agency and the people have a ton of personality and we wanted to make sure that the brand could live up to it.
For the Nebo logo we wanted to create something that typographically represented all of the key characteristics of the company. Nebo is a lot smaller than some of the big agencies that it encounters in the industry, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pump out the same quality work. We wanted a logo that felt quick and agile but at the same time felt strong and dependable. With the colors we wanted to convey an smart, authentic and approachable tone that fits inline with the personality of the people and company.
P.L.A.Y. is a retailer of high-end pet accessories designed with people, pets, and the planet in mind. The company’s story stems from their desire to create a better dog bed – with higher quality, better designed, and more aesthetically appealing products. The task was to create a website that asserted the retailer’s personality and value in a crowded, low-end marketplace.
With P.L.A.Y. being a new brand we wanted to help give them a strong and memorable presence online. We didn’t want the site to feel like your typical ecommerce site. Part of our strategy for this was to keep the standard product shots on white isolated to the products section of the site. This allows us to focus on the brand as much as possible while allowing the user to easily make selections in the products section. For the rest of the site we chose to use branded photography of the products in various home settings to give the user a sense of the P.L.A.Y. brand.
For the products section of the site we wanted to put the focus on the designs of the dog beds to allow the user to find the product that best fits their home. Upon mouse over of each product, the name, product and price are revealed. Lastly, we created a series of animated ribbons that wrap around certain products to inform the user of sales, new product offerings and other specifications.
The final design for P.L.A.Y. ended up fresh and unique with plenty of room for this new company to grow. Since the launch, P.L.A.Y. has sold beds all over the country and the site has won awards from The Communicator Awards and The Horizon Interactive Awards.
